Nicola Grant has commented on the Department of Health’s public consultation event on the future of Northern Ireland hospital network. She agrees that the people in Newry and surrounding areas should make their voices heard loudly and clearly on the future of Daisy Hill Hospital.
Nicola said people from the Newry area are quite rightly asking if the department is interested in hearing the views and voices of the people from Newry, why was the meeting held in a hotel in Armagh? This seems to be part of the ongoing indifference to the people of Newry and it’s service users and patients that depend on Daisy Hill Hospital. There can be no excuse or justification for the failure to schedule a meeting in Newry so that local people could express their opinions on the proposals that will affect their ability to access medical treatment when needed.
Nicola concluded before these proposals are activated there must be a meeting held in Newry the people here deserve nothing less than the right to be heard. They are fighting for the health and wellbeing of their families friends and neighbours. These proposals will have an impact on future generations. The Department have an obligation to here their views at a meeting in Newry.
