McNulty Congratulates Kimmins and Wishes Her Well on Appointment As Infrastructure Minister

SDLP Newry & Armagh MLA Justin McNulty has wished his constituency colleague Liz Kimmins well on her appointment as Infrastructure Minister.

Mr. McNulty said:  “I offer my congratulations to Liz Kimmins on her appointment as Infrastructure Minister.  Although we are members of different parties, I welcome the fact that a local MLA has been appointed to head up the Department for Infrastructure.

“There are significant challenges and opportunities for Newry & Armagh in terms of infrastructure, and I believe it is a positive development to have a Minister for Infrastructure who is aware of the needs and the ambitions of local people.

“My focus will remain on the campaign to oppose a fixed bridge over Newry Canal, securing safety improvements on the A1, restoring a rail connection to Armagh, and securing the necessary investment in wastewater infrastructure to unlock housing and commercial development.  I look forward to working constructively with the incoming Minister where possible, and as a critical friend where necessary.”
