Newry City Councillor Valerie Harte has said the robbing of the Vivo Shop in Stream Street Newry on Saturday afternoon had disgusted the local community.
The Sinn Féin elected representative said,
“I share the disgust of our community at this act of thuggery carried out at the Vivo Shop.
A young member of staff was forced by knife point to open the Till and the individual brandishing the knife, stole money from it”.
The local Councillor added,
“This was a frightening experience for the young person involved. This shop which serves the community well has been targeted before, and those thieves carrying out these anti-community crimes care nothing about the staff or the people who avail of the services”.
