The award winners were announced in December 2024 and are featured in Irish Dancing Magazine’s Mid-December 2024/January 2025 edition, highlighting the remarkable achievements of honourees worldwide.

Olivia Murray founded the Murray Dance Academy in 2022 with the mission of making Irish Dance accessible to everyone, regardless of background. Known for her warmth and dedication, Olivia has created a vibrant and inclusive space where her students flourish. Drawing on her own experience as a World Champion, Olivia inspires her students to believe that dreams can be achieved through dedication, resilience and joy in the art form.

Her academy has become a beloved part of the community, with students regularly performing at local events such as the Armagh City St. Patrick’s Day parade and La Spraoi Mhacha. Through these performances, Olivia and her dancers share the joy of Irish Dance with the wider community, fostering pride in their cultural heritage.

Parents of Olivia’s students praise her for her kindness and supportive nature. Cathy O’Hare, a parent at the academy, shares, “Olivia goes above and beyond for her pupils, making each one feel special and talented.” Cathy recalls how Olivia is a reassuring presence at every feis, offering each child extra encouragement and a warm smile before they step on stage. Another parent highlights how Olivia’s gentle support helped her young daughter overcome stage fright, demonstrating Olivia’s commitment to nurturing confidence in every dancer.

Receiving this award so early in her teaching career is a testament to the strong impact Olivia has already made on her dancers. Reflecting on the honour, Olivia expresses gratitude for the support of her mother and her dedicated dance families. “Opening my own school has been one of the most challenging yet fulfilling things I’ve done,” she shares. For Olivia, teaching Irish Dance is about fostering confidence, friendships and a lifelong love for Irish culture.
