Grant Calls For Support For Ambulance Service

Nicola Grant has reacted angrily to the news that the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service has not had their full quota of ambulance crews at weekends. She commented this situation did not happen by accident, it happened by design as the workers party has pointed out over a number of years, yet still those charged with delivering our healthcare needs seem unable to listen, and continue to come up with the same old tired plans, that inevitably cause more problems, because they are based on saving money, not delivering much needed services to those citizens who are in need of them.

Nicola continued the same people,  Politicians and senior managers who designed Transforming your care in order to balance the books and privatised Domiciliary services  also devised the plan, to out source aspects of ambulance work to the voluntary and private sectors. Sadly service users are now living with the consequences of those decisions because it’s led to staff shortages right across the ambulance service.

Nicola concluded their actions and the acceptance of their plans by the then Minister and the department of health and those MLA s who were supposed to be scrutinising these plans, at a time when they were closing hospitals and services in rural areas, is proof that saving money, by cutting back on vital services such as well-trained ambulance staff as well as other Health professionals.

Had nothing to do with delivering quality health and social care outcomes to the citizens of Northern Ireland,  and everything to do with their own ideology, which enabled in part the fragmentation and privatisation of Nye Bevin vision and creation of the National Health Service free at the point of entry and available to all regardless of class or creed.
