Newry City Councillor Geraldine Kearns has said that the recent spate of robberies in Newry City had caused great distress amongst the city communities,
The Sinn Féin elected representative was commenting after police released details of six aggravated robberies that had taken place in the city last Friday night.
The Councillor said,
“First concerns are with those individuals and families who have been impacted by these dastardly acts.
The details about the robberies and the forced entering of homes by the criminals involved have caused great fear and distress throughout the community.
Those who carried out these robberies are heartless criminals who care nothing about the damage both financial and emotional that they inflict on their victims.
Anyone who may noticed anything suspicious, or may be able to help apprehend these criminals should contact the PSNI on 101 and quote reference 1566 of 13/09/24”.
The Sinn Féin elected representative concluded,
“I would urge all to be vigilant and alert to suspicious activity. Please do not hesitate to report any such activities”.
