Newry: Woman Taken to Hospital Following Assault

Police arrested a man and a woman following a report of an assault on a woman in the Belfast Road area of Newry on Monday morning, 9th September. 

Officers received a report shortly after 6am that a woman aged in her 20s was assaulted, and taken to hospital for treatment to her injuries. 

A 35-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of common assault and was subsequently street bailed. 

A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of common assault and possession of an offensive weapon. He has since been released on police bail to allow for other enquiries. 

Police would appeal to anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area to contact Police on 101 and quoting reference 160 09/09/24.
