Ireland’s Only Historic Motor Racing Festival Returns to Mondello Park

The Carole Nash Historic Festival offers a truly immersive experience that combines the thrill of live Grand Prix races, NASCAR demos,  car shows,  passenger laps, music, funfair, food village and entertainment. This year there will be the largest Jaguar Sports car meet in Ireland,  a rare chance to see the complete lineup of Jaguar sports cars, including the 75th edition of the Jaguar F-type.  Also Porsche and Porsche Club Ireland  will be joining in the festival to showcase their iconic line up of 911, Cayman, Cayenne, Macon, Panamera and Taycan models.

The Carole Nash Historic Festival returns for 2024 on Saturday and Sunday, the 10th and 11th of August. This is a chance to step back in time for Ireland’s legendary and only historic motor race meeting celebrating Vintage, Classic and Racing Cars and Bikes from the glamour of the roaring ‘20s through to the swinging ‘60s. An unmissable event for motor racing enthusiasts and car lovers.

On track there will be the Dublin Grand Prix Trophy, the St. Brigid’s Trophy and the Birrane Perpetual Trophy will all be awarded for the various races over the weekend.  These races showcase the skill and adrenaline of drivers competing in vintage and classic vehicles. There will also be a selection of pedigree Grand Prix motorcycle demos on track on both days with the unique sights and smells of the distinctive two stroke engine to entertain either on display or on track.

Off the track, there’s a world of entertainment and exploration awaiting visitors. Classic and Vintage car shows, passenger laps with some of Irelands brightest Motorsport stars Alex Dunne and Max Hart.

Swing and brass bands will set the mood, while a vintage funfair, carnival and games will provide nostalgic amusement. Face painting and street food pop-ups ensure a delightful experience for all, and surprises throughout the event will keep the excitement levels high.

Embracing the glory days of Motorsport, visitors will have the chance to dress up in their finest attire and be a part of the biggest and best historic motor racing party of the year in Ireland. It’s a wonderful occasion to relish the heritage of motorsport and immerse oneself in the atmosphere of the bygone era.

The impressive Martin Birrane Collection will be open, with its collection of iconic cars from the world of motorsport, including cars which have competed in Formula One, Le Mans and NASCAR.  Ireland’s top female racing driver, Nicole Drought will taste NASCAR power next Sunday, she is the reigning Open Clubman Irish Rallycross Champion and is also leading the UK MSVR Trackday series at the wheel of a Honda Civic. Nicole has previously demonstrated the Lola T70-Chevrolet and the Spice-Hart C86 from the collection and is excited at the prospect of trying the 1984 Team Ireland Chevrolet Lumina. “I can’t wait to get behind the wheel of such an iconic car”, she said “I have seen and heard the car before, it sounds incredible!”

One of the highlights of the Festival will be the pre-55 Sports Car race.  The big, wooden steering wheel and spindly wire equipped wheels will be amongst the oldest in the meeting, which are always a delight to watch.  Some have already achieved their centenary, however a feisty and lively competitive display of historic motorsport which proves age has not slowed these sprightly machines down.  The Historic Formula Ford 1600, Formula 3000 and Historic Racing cars will be live on track.  There will be a host of home-grown competitors competing across the weekend from the HRCA, all this making for an action-packed programme of historic motorsport.

Colm Tully, Managing Director of Carole Nash Ireland said “Carole Nash are extremely proud to be supporting the Historic Festival at Mondello Park once again and are delighted to be back for our third year! Having operated in Ireland for over 25 years, we are committed to supporting our local communities and customers – the Historic Festival allows us the opportunity to do both. A fantastic occasion for all the family, celebrating local motorsport in the heart of the community”

‘This weekend is one of the highlights in Mondello Park’s calendar, we are delighted to have the largest Jaguar Sports car meet in Ireland and the 75th edition of the Jaguar F-type  for people to see along with the racing, funfair, food and entertainment’ said Roddy Greene, Mondello Park’s Managing Director.
