A petition has appeared online in support of the police officer involved in All Ireland final celebrations in Camlough.
The petition reads:
28th July 2024 seen the day that Armagh GAA won the All-Ireland SFC to lift the same maguire for the first time since 2002.
The community of Camlough and wider South Armagh were out in jublient scenes to celebrate the success when they were joined by their local community and neighbourhood policing team in celebration.
Since then, the police officer in question has been subject to political bigotry from the TUV, DUP and UUP parties, clearly opposed to normalised policing within nationalist and republican communities and anything that has association with the GAA.
We ask you sign this petition to send a clear message to the PSNI Chief Constable and the Police Ombudsmen that all officers concerned in this alleged event are vindicated for their actions and immediately returned to front line duties without punishment. Furthermore, they should be commended for their courageous policing efforts in South Armagh and for their dedication to keeping all the people of the north of Ireland safe.
