NHS Pay: Union Won’t Leave NI Workers Behind!

UNISON statement:

UNISON members in the health service will take careful note of Minister Nesbitt’s statement on pay. Expectation will now rise that NI workers should not be left behind. The UK Chancellor’s commitment to a 5.5% increase for public sector workers the Minister must include action to fully fund pay improvement across the UK. UNISON needs clear commitment from the Exchequer.

UNISON are only too well aware of NI budget deficits. UNISON will remind our Executive any funding received for pay must be ring fenced.

UNISON UK health workers will now meet to assess developments. The voice of our members in Northern Ireland will be prominent in those discussions. UNISON will strongly press that low pay must be removed from the NHS.

Those rates just above the minimum wage are no longer justifiable.

UNISON are not prepared to be ignored.
