Following a report that a man may be in possession of a bladed item, police arrested a man aged in his 20s in the Upper Water Street area of Newry last night, Saturday 6th April.
He was taken to Banbridge custody where he was interviewed on suspicion of a number of offences including possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
He has since been released on bail to allow for further enquiries.
