50 New Medical Places Great News For Aspiring Doctors – Kimmins

Sinn Féin MLA Liz Kimmins has said confirmation that the Irish government will fund 50 places for medical students at Queen’s University is exciting news for aspiring doctors.

The party’s health spokesperson said:

“It is fantastic news that the Irish government will fund 50 places for medical students at Queen’s University, with the first 25 students starting in September this year.

“This is exciting news for aspiring doctors and vital in training more doctors and other health professionals into our health service to support patients across our island.

“Today’s announcement is the latest in a series of announcements by the Irish government to support key educational projects in the north, including a €45 million investment to help with the expansion of the Ulster University in Derry.

“At a time when health services face issues with short staffing, every effort must be made to train and recruit more health professionals, and it is welcome that the Irish government is continuing to work with our local universities to achieve that.”
