Sinn Féin to Host Funding Meeting For Local Farmers

Sinn Féin councillor Bróna Haughey has organised a public meeting in Ballymacnab hall for farmers with DAERA to discuss future funding for farmers here amid the loss of former EU funding.

The Sinn Féin councillor for Cusher said:

“This meeting will be held on Thursday 7th March at 7:30pm in Ballymacnab community hall.

“Farmers all across the north are facing real uncertainty about funding to replace the vital EU monies that were lost as a result of Brexit.

“With the huge number of farms in this constituency, we have organised for Norman Fulton, the head of Food, Farming and Rural Affairs at DAERA, to come and address the meeting.

“Norman will discuss the timeline for the introduction of the new programme of Farm supports and will take questions on this matter from the crowd.

“Farmers are dealing with enormous challenges, Brexit, climate change, rising costs of food production due to the war in Ukraine, animal disease, reform of agriculture policy and complying with endless regulations and legislation.

“Sinn Féin wants to give a clear message to the DAERA Minister and his officials that we want to see the farm budget continue and be ring-fenced post 2024/25 similar to the previous EU Common Agriculture Pillar one budget.
