On Friday 9th August 2024 the family friends and comrades of Oglach Brendan Watters will be holding a graveside commemoration to mark the 40th Anniversary of Brendan’s death.
Speaking to Clanrye News and Sport event organisers said:
“Brendan was from a staunch Republican family he was a member of Na Fianna Eireann before making the graduation into the ranks of Óglaigh na h-Èireann even after 40 years Brendan is very much missed and talked about amongst his family and friends.”
“On Friday 9th August we will gather at the Republican plot in St Mary’s cemetery were a wreath will be laid before we make our way to Brendan’s family were he is interred a wreath laying ceremony will take place and an oration given by a prominent Republican.”
“This event is non party political and is open to everyone and anyone who knew Brendan or indeed operated with him the graveside commemoration will be followed by a night of remembrance and music in the local INF club were refreshments will be provided.”
