Slieve Gullion area Sinn Féin Councillor Aoife Finnegan has praised residents in the area whose vigilance helped ensure the recovery of a work van stolen earlier from a home near Camlough as part of a creeper burglary.
“The recovery of this valuable work vehicle is to be welcomed and those local residents who noticed suspicious activity and helped ensure the vehicle was recovered intact deserve the highest praise. Hopefully those involved in these criminal acts on families, businesses and the community will be apprehended”.
Her colleague Cllr Declan Murphy urged people to be vigilant and ensure their belongings are safely secure.
“It is noticeable that there appears to be an increase in criminal activity. Homeowners should ensure that their belongings are safe and secure.
Residents should also report anything suspicious such as strange vehicles or people in the area and look out for each other. Good neighbours are invaluable and are key to putting a stop to these criminal gangs.”
