King Urges People to Join International Day of Solidarity With Palestine

Sinn Féin councillor Cathal King has encouraged people across Newry and Armagh to attend local rallies ahead of the International day of solidarity with Palestine, next Wednesday, the 29th November.

The Newry City councillor said:

“Next Wednesday, 29th November, there will be rallies across Ireland to mark the international day of solidarity with Palestine.

“At the rally last month in Newry City, hundreds of people gathered to show their support to the people of Gaza and to totally condemn the actions of Israel and the IDF.

“There will be a rally in both Newry and South Armagh on the 29th November.

“The event in Newry will take place at 6pm, with people assembling in Dunnes car park on Monaghan Street/

“The rally in South Armagh will take place in The Square, Crossmaglen at 7pm.

“Our message is clear; stop the bombing of Gaza. Stop the blockade of Gaza. Stop the occupation, illegal settlements and apartheid.

“While the Israel government continues to defy calls for a ceasefire and pursues collective punishment, the international community and the Irish government must now take action to enforce international law.

“All efforts must focus on immediate ceasefires, dialogue and a negotiations process that can deliver a just and lasting peace in the Middle East based upon the creation of a viable Palestinian state.”
