Sinn Féin MLA John O’Dowd has welcomed the announcement of an £80m expansion at the Almac pharmaceutical plant at Portadown which will create 500 new jobs.
The Upper Bann spokesperson said,
“This announcement is a very positive development, bringing more jobs to the Upper Bann area, providing a timely economic boost in the midst of the ongoing cost of living crisis.
“Almac is already a significant employer in the area, and this current expansion is indicative of their continuing growth, which is helping bring job security to thousands of workers and economic prosperity to the region.
“I wholeheartedly welcome this announcement, and will continue to work and lobby with the requisite bodies to help bring more employment to Upper Bann and ensure that this is a great place to live and work.
“Dual market access as offered under the Windsor Framework buffers us from the worst aspects of Brexit and makes this place an attractive investment spot for local and global companies.
“We need an Assembly and Executive back so we can truly tap into this potential.”
