Sinn Féin councillor John Óg O’Kane has said that the people of Armagh deserve proper leisure facilities.
The Armagh City councillor spoke after a meeting with council officials at the Orchard Leisure Centre:
“Myself and Cllr. Sarah Duffy met with senior council staff at the leisure centre today to make it clear that the current state of the facility is unacceptable.
“We have had a number of complaints from constituents including leaks in the roof, flood damage to the spinning room and the closure of the steam room for over a year.
“This is totally unacceptable, the people of Armagh deserve to have access to first class leisure facilities here and now.
“While the Orchard Leisure Centre is an old facility, it must be kept in good condition until a new leisure centre is ready.
“The people of Armagh should not be forced to accept second class leisure facilities and Sinn Féin are determined to fight for proper services and facilities in the Orchard Leisure Centre.”
