Sinn Féin MLA Linda Dillon was speaking on the continuing backlog of women receiving their cervical smear test results.
The party’s health spokesperson Linda Dillon said:
“I have been continuing correspondence with the Department of Health over the past year, on the issue of the current backlog of cervical cancer testing.
“The Department of Health and the Trusts need to put women’s health as their priority and ensure the backlog is dealt with as quickly as possible.
“Women need to know quickly if something is wrong, so that it can be identified, and treatment can begin as soon as possible.
“We need an Executive up and running so that we can work together to invest in and modernise our health service and make women’s healthcare fit for purpose.”
