Mathers Welcomes Commitment to Repair Camlough Road Wall

Sinn Féin councillor Aidan Mathers has welcomed a commitment from the Housing Executive to repair the damaged wall on the Camlough Road in Newry.

The Newry City councillor said:

“We welcome the commitment from the Housing Executive to repair the badly damaged wall on the Camlough road.

“The Newry Sinn Féin team have worked to tackle this issue for a number of years, holding meetings with many groups to demand that the road be made safer for all.

“The damage to the wall, along with the number of accidents on the road had left many local residents, particularly those living below the wall extremely concerned.

“The commitment to repair the wall, along with the recent speed indicator device will help to improve road safety on what is one of the busiest routes in Newry.

“There is still work to do here however and myself, along with the rest of the Sinn Féin team for Newry are determined to work to improve road safety and quality for all in Newry.”
