Ulster Unionist Party representative, Councillor David Taylor has commemorated the victims of the Narrow Water Massacre alongside his Party colleague, Councillor Bethany Ferris, on the 44th anniversary of the terrorist incident which resulted in the murder of 18 soldiers by the IRA.
Councillor Taylor said:
“I was honoured to attend a very dignified service of remembrance alongside my Party colleague Councillor Bethany Ferris which was organised at Narrow Water by victims group Families Acting for Innocent Relatives.
“The Narrow Water massacre has never been forgotten by the local community and is certainly noted for being one of the darkest days of the Troubles.
“We must never forget the ultimate sacrifice paid by those members of our Armed Forces who lost their lives in incidents such as the Narrow Water Massacre.
“The soldiers who lost their lives that day were at the forefront in the fight against terrorism. Our thoughts are with their family members and colleagues who were impacted by the significant loss which occurred on that dark day.”
