Comedian John Meagher Makes His Dublin Fringe Festival Debut In CALM

Winner of the Panel Prize at the 2022 Edinburgh Fringe as part of “Best in Class” the working-class stand-up showcase, comedian John Meagher’s recent success has gained him recognition as one of Ireland’s top new comedians.

In his new Dublin Fringe stand-up show CALM, Meagher explores what it was like growing up in Northern Ireland during the Troubles, and before what he was like before moving to mainland Britain, and what that did to him personally. But most of all, John has to find out why he’s so stressed and how to keep his blood pressure down before a minor heart defect becomes a major one!

“Calm” was nominated for “Best Stand-up Performance” at the Buxton Fringe Festival last month, and John was only Irish person nominated for stand-up in the prestigious awards. He has also been nominated for the BBC New Comedy Award, was runner up in the Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year, and a finalist at the Hackney Empire NATYs Award – which has given many comedy legends their first break, like Ardal O’Hanlon, Stewart Lee and Simon Pegg to name a few. He’s appeared on BBC 3, TV3, ITV and Comedy Central UK.

Last year, John’s big break came when he supported Patrick Kielty on his hugely successful ‘Borderlines’ tour of the UK and Ireland, spending 5 months on the road with the new “Late Late Show” host. Before “Borderlines” John was supporting Jarlath Regan of the “An Irishman Abroad” podcast for his UK tour.

Meagher is a true comedy star on the rise and now he’s moving out in his own right with this new show CALM at Dublin Fringe Festival. Don’t miss his show!!
