The SDLP has welcomed confirmation of improvement works on Chapel Road Newry, which will commence on 26th June.
Justin McNulty said: “I’m pleased to see this commitment from DfI Roads to progress much needed improvement works on Chapel Road. I was contacted by residents last winter who has serious concerns about the safety of Chapel Road, both in relation to the road surface, and flooding issues which were creating treacherous road conditions in freezing weather.
SDLP Newry City Councillor Doire Finn said: “the announcement by DfI Roads of works to resurface the carriageway from St. Mary’s High School to the Commons Hall Road will be warmly welcomed by local residents and road users. In addition, the commitment to upgrading road drainage will alleviate significant safety concerns for winter months.”
