Sinn Féin Councillor Áine Quinn has said that securing the future of Mullaghbawn GP must be a priority for the department of Health and the Southern Trust.
The Slieve Gullion councillor said:
“The potential closure of Mullaghbawn GP has caused great concern for patients and the wider community.
“It’s vital these services are retained for rural patients, particularly with the current crisis at Daisy Hill Hospital.
“After meeting with GPs from across South Armagh to discuss solutions to this issue, we engaged with the Southern Trust, Department of Health to press them to work with us in securing the future of the practice.
“This is a key priority for Sinn Féin, we are continuing to work with local GPs and the health authorities and we are awaiting a decision on any solutions to this matter.”
