Sinn Féin Councillor Declan Murphy has condemned the recent littering in Bessbrook Pond.
The Slieve Gullion Councillor said:
“I was contacted this week by a number of residents who highlighted the amount of litter that had been left in the pond.
“When I went to see the reported litter at the pond I was disappointed to see the quantity that had been left behind.
“I have contacted the council and they have committed to clearing the litter this week.
“I have also requested that the council ensure the litter bins on site are regularly emptied to ensure that locals will always have the facility to safely and cleanly dispose of their litter.
“Bessbrook Pond is a fantastic asset for the whole community here and it is important that we all respect this site and help to keep it clean.”
