Sinn Féin MLA for Newry and Armagh has welcomed the recent visit of the education minister to St. Joseph’s high school in Newry.
Speaking after the meeting Liz said:
“I have been working with the management of the school now for a number of months in trying to secure essential works to upgrade the facilities on site.
“To assist in this process I requested that the minister visit the school personally to see the work that needed to be done.
“St. Joe’s is a first class school with amazing staff. However, for over 40 years there has been serious under investment into the facilities at the school here.
“The school is situated at the heart of 9 of the most deprived wards across the whole of the North so it is imperative that the school is given the resources it needs to offer every child that comes through its doors a fair chance.
“I will continue to work with both the school and the education minister to ensure that this school is adequately resourced and that they get the investment that they need to continue giving kids across Newry a first class education.
