Speaking after the High Court in Belfast upheld the planning approvals granted in 2020, Sinn Féin MLA Cathal Boylan said:
“Local communities have repeatedly called for the undergrounding of the interconnector and it remains Sinn Féin’s position that the project should be undergrounded.
“It is important that we have the infrastructure in place that allows us to decarbonise our energy generation. However, it is also important that large scale infrastructure projects works meaningfully with local communities.“
