Police in Newry arrested a 20 year old man from the Carnagat area of the city on suspicion of a number of offences including driving when unfit due to drink or drugs, failing to report, failing to stop and failing to remain where an accident occurred, possession of an offensive weapon and possession of a class B drug.
The man was taken into custody and later released on police bail pending further enquiries. The arrest followed a collision at around 9pm between a car being driven in the Parkhead Crescent area and a parked car. Enquiries are ongoing.
