Local Republican Party Saoradh have condemned the recent assault on a man at the Camlough Road area of the city. The attack occurred as the man was walking home from a night out.
Speaking on the issue Saoradh representative Stephen Murney said:
“Our party representatives have been contacted regarding a shocking incident that occurred last night (Saturday) which resulted in a man being seriously assaulted and hospitalised. The victim was walking up the Camlough Rd when he was set upon by a number of youths who came from the direction of Parkhead bank.”
“This man could have been easily killed during the assault which only stopped when a motorist pulled in. This type of anti-community behaviour needs to end immediately. We wish this man a speedy recovery. Anyone with any information regarding this sickening attack please don’t hesitate to contact our Newry office.”
