Newry and Armagh Alliance representative Jackie Coade has been selected as the spokesperson and candidate for the Alliance Party in Newry and Armagh. The announcement comes with over one year to go until the Assembly election in 2022. The Alliance Party is currently in the process of announcing their candidates for the 2022 election meaning they are getting their “ducks in a row” and preparing early.
Speaking on the announcement Ms Coade said:
“I am delighted to have been selected by our local association and will endeavour to work hard for everyone across Newry and Armagh.
The past year has been an extremely difficult one and we have seen that many in our society have been disproportionately disadvantaged by the Covid pandemic. As we emerge from this pandemic I want to reiterate my commitment to building a fair and shared society for everyone. A society that is built on respect for each other, one which is caring, kind and delivers opportunities for all.
I believe we can achieve so much more in NI if we work together. I want to see a society that is prosperous, fair and where people feel welcome and valued. I want our young people to want to stay in NI, work in NI and bring up a family here. We live in one of the most stunning parts of NI. I want to see Newry & Armagh become a major staycation destination for people from all over Ireland and the world as we emerge from the Covid pandemic.
We have so much work to do, but I am up for the challenge and look forward to meeting new people along the way.”
