Communities Minister Deirdre Hargey has met with the Arts Collaboration Network, an informal network of the main sector support organisations and a number of creative hubs across NI.
Speaking after the meeting the Minister said: “The Arts Collaboration Network has been a strong advocate for the sector over this past year. We all know the contribution that arts, culture and heritage make to our society and the development of a Culture, Arts and Heritage Strategy is a key element in working towards the revival and revitalisation needed.
“In the course of the past year almost £28million has gone to support individuals and organisations across the arts and creative sectors and now is the time to build upon that support, in thinking and responding differently to the challenges ahead.
“My discussions today focussed on what comes next and what the longer terms needs of the sector might look like. It is important that any future recovery and stabilisation plans are co-designed with the sector. The work of the Arts Collaboration Network as a stakeholder in that process is valued.”
