Sinn Féin Discuss Daisy Hill Hospital Concerns With Southern Trust

Sinn Féin representatives Mickey Brady MP, Liz Kimmins MLA and Conor Murphy MLA have met with Shane Devlin the Chief Executive of the Southern Trust, Shane to discuss the future of Daisy Hill Hospital.

Speaking after the meeting Conor Murphy said,

“This was a constructive engagement with the Trust.

We discussed a wide range of issues including the Emergency Department, Surgical Planning, and the Recruitment and Retention of staff.

We were given assurances that the Trust have well developed plans to address these key issues of concern,

We will meet with the Trust again to discuss their finalised proposals and issues such as the time line for rolling them out.”


The Newry & Armagh MLA continued:

“Daisy Hill Hospital has long played a significant role in providing a wide range of vital health and well being services to the Newry and south Armagh area.

The role played by the Hospital and its staff in particular during the recent pandemic has highlighted just how essential Daisy Hill is.

It is of the utmost importance that Daisy Hill Hospital is protected with it’s services not only retained but expanded on for the short, medium and long term. This is a key objective for Sinn Féin”.

The MLA concluded by stating,

“We in Sinn Féin will continue fighting to ensure Daisy Hill is protected and supported as one of the most valuable assets to our community”.
